Growing up, love has been one of the beautiful words I have always wanted to hear. I've read a lot of touching and captivating stories on love, I've watched movies that painted different scenarios of love and I've seen people try to demonstrate love in their own very best way.
Few years back, I was able to start seeing what love really is. We all have different definitions of love and different terms for love. We've read a lot of stories on love and even watched different movies and we were able to see how love is being demonstrated.
So far, I am able to conclude that love is more of action and commitment than mere words, love is more of sacrifice than pleasure, love is more of rendering service to humanity than sitting down to be poured affection. Love is going extra mile even when your car can only move an inch.

I looked forward and around, read all kinds of books but still, I wasn't satisfied. Not quite long, I found a book that talked about the true love story. I was attached to it, then I was promoted to search further. The first part of the story talked about Abraham who God instructed to take his only son and sacrifice him on a mountain and he obeyed. I knew this act sprung out from a well. It wasn't clear to me until I reached a very common verse in the book;

"For God so great and and dearly loved the world that he even gave up his only gotten unique son, so that whoever believes in(trust in, clings to, relies on) him shall not perish but have everlasting life!

The sentence baffled me and I was able to relate God's actions here to that of Abraham. I saw a true picture of love from the word 'gave'. "Gave" here signifies a total surrenderness of one's property to another person even before the physical manisfestation. How can a man give his only son? That was true love! Then God is love! Yes, the story of the redemption of man is the true love story.
1John 4:8 "He who does not love has not become acquainted with with God {does not and never did know him}, for GOD IS LOVE"
Hallelujah!

What I was able to pick from this true love story is that;
Love is beyond words, it is more of action! Since God is love, I am to replicate how much and how deep the love is through my words and actions!

Now check out the attribute of love in 1Cor 13:2-8 and ask yourself if you possess this attributes.
Shalom!
