TENIOLA - EPISODE 1
(Written by Obisesan Abolade)
She sat quietly at her desk punching the keyboard with all expertise. She enjoyed her job of being the content creator of one of the biggest telecommunication firms in Nigeria.
For her age, she could be described as successful. She graduated at 22 with first class honours in Linguistics. At 24, she went for her MBA in London where she bagged her Masters degree with whooping distinctions. She had won so many competitions and scholarships that had earned her lot and baked her into a hot cake rushed by local and international firms.
Inspite of the economic hardship and high rate of unemployment in Nigeria, she had the luxury of choosing amongst many options of firms she wanted to work with. Call it luck or favour, or that she deserved it, this was her reality. Her life was a plot twist to the saying common with job-seekers; Many are called but few are chosen. For her, it was a case of many called her but she chose few.
Teniola, Tenny as she is fondly called is the only child of her parents; Mr. & Mrs. Kalejaiye. She was adopted into the Kalejaiye family at the age of 5 when she lost her biological parents to a road traffic accident. It was an experience that had wounded her heart and she never loved to remember. It opened her eyes to the insecurities of the world and in turn opened her mind to fear. The accident preceded other turns of events that makes her describe her early childhood days as gory and horrific.
At that early age, she had began to doubt if the god her biological parents had always taught her about really existed. Jesus was perphaps another superhero that was never real. Darkness was about to build a stronghold in her young and fragile heart until the emergence of light came and appeared in form of Mr & Mrs Kalejaiye. It is indeed true that the cries of children are the loudest in God's ears.
Let us take a step back into what really happened...
